Glenys Kinnock visits the Cwmafan Local Action Centre

Glenys Kinnock MEP for Wales visited the Neath Port Talbot area on Thursday 30th October 2003 to look at Objective 1 Projects within the County Borough.

She included various New Learning Network Centres on her tour including the Cymafan Local Action Centre which is located at Cymafan Library, Depot Road Cwmafan and the Taibach Local Action Centre which is located at the Taibach Community Education Centre on Old Eastern School road, Margam.

Glenys commented that she was impressed by the strong links that the New Learning Network partnership was forging with the local communities.

Glenys Kinnock was a former teacher in nursery, primary and secondary schools between 1967 and 1994 and was very interested in the way that the New Learning Network is promoting Lifelong Learning within the local communities. The project aimed to help 6000 people into adult education and surpassed this figure by over 27%.

Glenys Kinnock is in her 5th Term as MEP for Wales and is a member of the Committee on Development and Cooperation, which is the Parliament’s committee on international development and relations with the third world. She is a substitute member of the Committee on Citizens’ Freedoms and Rights, Justice and Home Affairs. Glenys is also Co-President of the Parliament’s delegation for relations with African, Caribbean and Pacific States.
