How to use them...

Both Internet Explorer (if you have Windows XP Service Pack 2) and Mozilla Firefox come with built in popup blockers. What is a popup blocker? A popup blocker is a piece of software that attempts to stop internet pages from displaying a window in front of your web browser. These windows are mostly but not always adverts, for instance many sites use popup windows to display large images.

It is a good idea to leave such a utility on, as it will save you from being annoyed while you are surfing the net, however you can allow certain websites that you specify to use popup windows whilst blocking popup windows from all other sites. For instructions on how to do this keep reading...

First of all, to check if you have Windows XP Service pack 2 installed (you wont need to do anything if it isnt installed or if you are not using Windows XP):
